Process Cooling for the oil & gas sector
The oil & gas sector is a very important sector for the Middle East as this is one of the largest sources of revenue for many governments. Each refinery pumps thousands of barrels of oil per day along with natural gas and therefore production inefficiencies or downtime are very costly and can translate to the loss of millions of dollars.
Andrew Sykes was recently approached by a multinational fossil fuel provider to support with process cooling for one of its production facilities. During the oil refining process, the crude oil passes through a heat exchanger to cool down before moving to the next stage. One side of the heat exchanger has crude oil & the other side has sea water. This is effective during the winter but during summer the sea water is heats up and the cooling is dramatically reduced.
