Chiller Rental

Temporary cooling provided to the Facilities Management Sector

Andrews Sykes Climate Rental was approached by a market leading Facilities Management company to provide a temporary chiller solution for the shopping mall while the permanent unit was sent to the manufacturer for refurbishments and overhauling of compressors. This process takes 2-4 so Andrews Sykes provides temporary cooling to ensure the mall could continue as usual without shoppers being affected.

Andrews Sykes provided 1 x 100kw (28TR) temporary chiller with supporting circulation pump, hoses and accessories. This unit complements our full range of chillers which includes 50kW – 700kW (15TR-200TR). We also have a full range of air conditioning units, heaters and ventilation equipment. read more

Andrews Sykes provides temporary cooling & power for Military & Navy

Andrews Sykes was pleased to power shore power & cooling to military vessels and submarines as they entered port in the UAE to restock supplies. UAE is home to many bases and international forces which includes airbases, military camps, navy and air forces. These include PAC22 (2TR split AC units) and PAC60 (5TR split AC) for the accommodation and HPAC45 (12TR package unit) and HPAC90 (25TR package unit) for the kitchens, warehouses, hangers and other large structures. read more

Shore power & cooling provided to cruiser liner

Dubai is becoming a regional hub for cruise ships and they have recently opened a terminal at Port Rashid exclusively for these vessels. The Arabic Gulf has good cruising conditions which include flat seas and great weather all year round.

Recently, Andrews Sykes was approached by the vessel owner to provide some temporary shore power and cooling for some emergency maintenance work. Due to the urgency of the requirement, they were unable to wait and schedule to visit the dry docks and repair ports. During this maintenance work, the vessel had to turn off the permanent AC & power system while the crew all remained on board. read more

Andrews Sykes provides Inlet Cooling for Power Plant

During the hot summer months, large gas & diesel turbines experience large de-rates. De-rates refer to the loss of power output due to heat. This can be as high as 15-25% when temperatures reach 45 degree Celsius.

A local utility vendor approached us in the UAE and asked for turbine inlet cooling. This solution has 3 parts:

Part 1: provided additional chillers to the existing heat exchanger to increase cooling capacity. This includes a 200TR/700kW Chiller and 100TR/384kW Chiller.

Part 2: Provided a chiller and air handler along with ducting to duct the cold air of the air inlet of the turbine. This artificially reduced the air temperature and increased the efficiencies. read more

Temporary mobile chiller for emergency shutdown

Andrews Sykes is pleased to offer our Clients an emergency shutdown temporary chiller solution. We can provide 50kW, 100kW, 384kW or 700kW chillers at short notice. We also don’t require a crane which can often cause delays to the mobilization and demobilization processes.

This solution can be provided to any facility that is connected to the district cooling network or a centralised chiller system. We can also connect quickly to a heat exchanger for process applications.

Downtime can often cause large financial loses for many of our Clients so speed is very important. We can also provide back up support to facilities during planned maintenance and shutdown work. This can be set up in a standby configuration or run during the permanent chiller repairs. read more

Office is kept cool to ensure worker productivity

It is becoming trendy in the UAE for warehouses to be converted into office spaces. This is becoming very popular in areas such as Al Quoz, Ras Al Khor & Jebel Ali Industrial Area. The problem our clients experience when converting warehouses into office spaces, is that the warehouses were designed to store product and often built without AC units, chillers or air handlers.

Andrews Sykes is often called to assist people in warehouses to help with cooling and air distribution. Air conditioning equipment in warehouses is designed differently to office blocks. The most common error is one centralised AC system which can only be adjusted by one thermostat. The second major challenge is that there is no duct system to provide air distribution. read more

Process Cooling for the oil & gas sector

The oil & gas sector is a very important sector for the Middle East as this is one of the largest sources of revenue for many governments.  Each refinery pumps thousands of barrels of oil per day along with natural gas and therefore production inefficiencies or downtime are very costly and can translate to the loss of millions of dollars.

Andrew Sykes was recently approached by a multinational fossil fuel provider to support with process cooling for one of its production facilities. During the oil refining process, the crude oil passes through a heat exchanger to cool down before moving to the next stage. One side of the heat exchanger has crude oil & the other side has sea water. This is effective during the winter but during summer the sea water is heats up and the cooling is dramatically reduced. read more

Warehouse cooling save products from heat damage

Every year, Andrews Sykes is called to provide temporary cooling for warehouses. We have had many requirements ranging from comfort cooling of workers to cooling products to avoid them perishing, warping or to avoid heat damage.
